If I’m not dreaming about hiking up foreign mountains to feel on top of the world, then I’m scrolling through the internet to find “Top 10 travel destinations” or I’ve got my head stuck in a travel guide, trying to work out if I can really afford to just cram all of my clothes into a backpack and jet off to the other side of the world on a last minute adventure.
But when I’m not doing any of those things, then I am normally sunbathing on the beach on my days off work, paddleboarding at sunset or sipping cocktails with friends whilst chilling out in the sun. Wait, hang on…this sounds a lot like things I would get up to on holiday…
Not many people can say that when they’re not on holiday then they can act like a complete tourist in their own home town/city/country. I count myself so lucky that I can do this almost every day of the year, because I live on the beautiful little island of Jersey, in the Channel Islands.
Jersey is a 9×5 mile island of sandy beaches, rugged cliff paths and enough history to keep you exploring for a week or two. It is less than an hour’s flight from London Gatwick or a few hours on the ferry from Poole and Portsmouth so it is perfect for that last-minute getaway!
